From L’heure du jeu to Le Dernier Tour

For fourteen years, L’heure du jeu was the den of Rennes’ board gamers. Xavier Berret founded it in 2012, at 11 boulevard Magenta: shelves packed to bursting, tables that refused to hand back the dice before closing time, and that ritual “come on, one last round” that always dragged on a little.

Axel Céréloz, now the manager, knows the place from the inside: he used to work here. He moved to Rennes in January 2025 with a plan to open his own board game bar, joined the team in January 2026 — and the takeover was settled while he was being hired. “I learnt a great deal at L’heure du jeu… but I needed to make a clean break, to offer my own bar and make it mine.” Hence the new name: the lineage is owned, the page is turned.

What changes: the sign above the door, a selection of craft beers in the fridge, and above all the pricing. Access to the game library is now 2 €, instead of 4 € per person per hour. “Simpler bookkeeping, and playing time is no longer tied to the pressure to order.” What stays: the address, the game library, advice at your table, and a line-up built around games.

The whole idea fits in one sentence: “a place centred on the world of games, not on anything else.” Open to gamers and to the merely curious who came in for a beer or a mocktail. Le Dernier Tour — where everything is at play.
